Are you ever confused or frustrated by lending practices? Do you wonder why another library won’t renew your patron’s loan? Do you wish you could lend e-books or better serve your distance users? You’re not alone. Since the launch of the Rethinking Resource Sharing Initiative’s STAR Checklist in 2009, hundreds of libraries have reported on their resource sharing practices. We’ve analyzed the data and found that, for some “best practices,” libraries have no plans to implement them. Why is that? In this session, we aim to explore a few curiosities in the STAR Checklist data and gain a better understanding of best practices and barriers. Session attendees will not only gain insight into these issues, but they may take away ideas for how to implement practices they previously thought would not work at their libraries. Also, attendees will get a sneak peek at Version 3 of the STAR Checklist.
